Sedona Real Estate Areas

Posted under by realesta

Like all growing communities, Sedona has been naturally divided into four different regions: Uptown Sedona, West Sedona, the Chapel, and the Village of Oak Creek. Each of these areas boasts its own contributions to the Greater Sedona community with an abundance of art galleries, local artisans, ongoing cultural activities and majestic views from every angle.

Uptown Sedona

North of the village of Oak Creek, along highway 89-A , you’ll find uptown Sedona. This is the home to the Sedona Arts Center a non-profit organization formed in 1958 by Nassan Gobran and a group of visionaries who felt the artistic climate of Sedona Arizona needed a place where artists could work and teach together in a spirit of community cooperation, involvement, and participation. Also not to be missed is the Sedona Heritage Museum and one of the original farmsteads of the area.

The major retail plaza, found right along the highway is full of local shops of all varieties, all within easy walking distance of the many first rate bed & breakfast and hotel accommodations.

West Sedona

As the name implies, this area of Sedona lies to the west of the Junction between highway 179 and 89-A. This area has experienced a fair amount of recent growth, including a many new homes, businesses ,and city parks.  The latest park to be built is the Sedona Dog Park - a great amenity for locals and Sedona visitors alike.

West Sedona is also home to the Sedona airport where flights touring the canyon in Biplanes can be booked for a unique bird’s eye view of the region. From a visitor’s perspective, West Sedona offers ample first class accommodation as well as fine dining and shopping experiences.

Chapel Area

The Chapel area encompasses homes and businesses within the city limits from the Tlaquepaque bridge to the edge of town near Back O’ Beyond and Indian Cliffs.  It is also the area where you will discover the Chapel of the Holy Cross. Designed by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, it is one of the non denominational chapels in the area.  This section of town has recently gone through the process of connecting to city sewer and had all of it’s streets repaved.

The Village of Oak Creek

One of the first things to notice about this area of Sedona is the vibrant red rock formation of Bell Rock with its powerful energy vortex.  This signifies the entrance to the VOC from the north – and a departure from the Coconino National Forest and entering a separate unincorporated area of Sedona.  Although it’s got a Sedona mailing address and is served by the Sedona Fire Department, it’s outside the Sedona city limits.

This village is part of the southern tip of Greater Sedona and is filled with plenty of examples of fine local arts and crafts. Many of the treasures found in the galleries and shops are found in the famous Tequa Mall which was designed after an authentic Mexican Village and is an experience all of its own. Premier golf courses, dining and accommodations are also available.
